Dallas Official Aims To Ban Baggy Pants

DALLAS -- A Dallas City Councilman wants to ban baggy pants in the city.School board trustee Ron Price said banning saggy slacks might be the only way to get children to pull up their pants.A look around school campuses leaves some wondering just how low baggy pants can go."Pull them up. That's just my first thought," parent Shalonda Alexander said.Alexander said it is embarrassing to see children wearing pants so low that their underwear shows."It just doesn't present a good image," she said.Price agrees and said he has had enough."It's something wrong when we say it's OK for people to walk around our city with their underwear showing," he said.Price said he would ask the Dallas City Council to make it illegal to wear the baggy pants by either drawing up a new ordinance, or by adding the ban to an existing ordinance related to public lewdness."If all citizens, regardless of race or gender, understand in the city of Dallas, we refuse to let you walk around with pants showing your buttocks, that's a message for all people," he said.Price did not say how the ban would be enforced if it did become law.

What do you think about this? Do you think making baggy jeans illegal is a good or bad idea?

Honestly, I don't like them, but I don't think the government should start regulating how we dress tothis extent.

The knuckle-heads who wear their pants so low, and so baggy, that they have to keep pulling them up; should get a good ass whupping from their mamas, their granny, or their daddy at home, before they even step outside the door.

Just my two cents :)

In the late 80's father told my brother he looked like a slave (no offense, field) walking around with his high top fade in baby dreads and his Girbaud jeans hanging off his butt (little bourgie for a house music head, but don't tell him I said that!). The overalls with no shirt underneath and the bandana got an equal response.

But all jokes aside, this mess has gotta stop. It's embarrassing when kids do it. Even worse when it's a 40 year old man.

It needs to be banned, it's a show of disrespect toward women from what I know of how it got started. I understand that it started in prison, wearing them that low for quick access when it comes to having sex, pants is halfway down already. If I'm wrong, please enlighten us all.
